"Rare Pair Of Wooden Armchairs, Henry Jacques Le Même, Megève, Circa 1949"
Pair of solid wood armchairs designed by Henry Jacques Le Même for a chalet in Megève around 1950. Their openwork frame, flat armrests, and angled legs illustrate the search for furniture that is functional, sturdy, and harmonious, characteristic of the Alpine modernism developed by the architect. The seat cushions are upholstered in Othello red velvet from Nobilis, adding a warm and refined touch to the ensemble. These armchairs demonstrate Le Même's desire to reconcile woodworking craftsmanship with architectural elegance, in a humanist and minimalist approach to mountain furniture. Seat height: 49 cm. Provenance: Le Grand Soleil building, completed in 1939 in Megève.
