"Chinese Carved Ivory Figurine"
Late 19th century. Height 26 cm, 30 cm with base, weight 862 g. The base is damaged. This is a superb Chinese carved ivory figurine representing a longevity deity. The work depicts the main figure, bearded and dressed in a long robe, holding flowers and a staff, with a secondary figure kneeling at his feet. The color of the carving, ranging from cream to light brown, reflects the age of the ivory, with touches of pigmentation to accentuate the details of the clothing and accessories. It is elegantly mounted on a round, dark wood base, enhancing its presence. This piece is a fine example of Chinese craftsmanship.
