Empire Clock "deniere & Matelin, Bronze Manufacturers In Paris"
"Deniere & Matelin Bronze Makers in Paris" Empire period clock in finely chased and gilded bronze, with matte and burnished gold. Movement needs servicing. *The signature "Denière" or "Denière Fabt de Bronzes à Paris" refers to Jean-François Denière (1774-1866), one of the most important Parisian bronze casters of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Within a few years, he became one of the leading suppliers of bronze furniture by working for the Imperial Furniture Repository; at the same time, he built a wealthy private clientele and, until 1820, formed a partnership with François-Thomas Matelin, which allowed him to participate in the decoration of most of the imperial palaces and castles by supplying bronze furniture and clocks through some of their fellow bronze casters.*La pendulerie.com
