P. FROIDEVAUX was a Swiss artist born in 1918 in Geneva, of Jura origin, who lived in the Canton of Vaud. He exhibited in Metz in 1932 and then settled in Paris, where he exhibited at the Grand Salon des Artistes Français from 1935. From 1936, he exhibited in Bruges, Lausanne, and numerous other capital cities. The painting depicts the Flemish Bridge (Vlamingbrug) in Bruges, located between Vlamingstraat and Sint-Jorisstraat. It is a view from Augustijnenrei Street. A photograph from 1937, belonging to the archives of the Brussels Traen Collection, shows the exact same view as the painter's, taken a year later, also in winter (see photo below). The painting has been professionally cleaned and framed.
