"Sugar Mill"
Solid silver sugar bowl, European work, late 19th century. This solid silver sugar bowl is distinguished by its elegant ovoid shape, resting on four finely chased zoomorphic feet, whose claws and scrolls testify to great goldsmithing skill. The delicately hammered body has a surface punctuated with small, regular dots, creating a luminous and refined texture. In the center, an oval medallion in bas-relief, framed by sculpted ribbons, highlights a stylized floral motif, giving the piece a subtle and classic decorative touch. Two richly ornamented side handles, worked in the manner of scrolls and foliage, reinforce the majesty of the whole. The gently domed lid is topped with a finial sculpted in the form of a leafy branch, from which emerge small fruits or buds, typical of the naturalistic ornamental style of the 19th century. The antique patina of the silver enhances the reliefs and adds an authentic charm to the piece, revealing its age and use.
