"Pair Of Saw-picks"
Pair of silvered bronze candlesticks. French work, late 19th century. This pair of silvered bronze candlesticks has a slender and functional silhouette, typical of liturgical objects designed to hold candles or votive tapers. Each piece consists of a long, forged and sharpened iron spike, allowing a candle to be held securely. The spike is attached to a silvered bronze mount, richly decorated with relief motifs. The circular base has a slightly domed shape, while the back features a scrollwork and foliate ornamentation, characteristic of the French decorative style of the late 19th century. The silver patina, slightly worn by time, reveals the underlying material and lends the whole an authentic charm, reinforcing the antique and ritualistic aspect of these objects.
