A beautiful watercolor by Georges Villain, depicting a bouquet of flowers in a vase, placed on a tabletop. Our watercolor bears the artist's signature in the lower right corner. This watercolor is sold in a molded, gilded stucco frame. We note some minor losses to the moldings, particularly on the sides of the frame, and some repainting of the gilding (see photos). Georges Villain (1854-1930) was the son of the painter Eugène Marie François Villain (1821-1897). He exhibited extensively in the salons of Paris, Toulouse, Evreux, etc. He painted numerous landscapes of Brittany and Normandy, as well as views of Paris.
