"Charles X Period Cigar Holder"
A superb decorative cigar holder from the Charles X period (circa 1824-1830), depicting a young officer in military uniform. This refined piece harmoniously combines frosted glass and gilt bronze, typical of the elegant and precious taste of the Restoration. The figurine, finely sculpted in satin-finish frosted glass, shows an officer in detailed uniform: epaulettes, waistcoat, tight trousers, and an ornate gilt-bronze helmet. The whole is perfectly proportioned and executed with great finesse. The figure stands on a circular glass base, supported by an openwork gilt-bronze plinth with a highly elaborate design. To the side, a charming decorative gilt-bronze mechanism, featuring a small cut-glass bucket, is suspended by a chain. This movable element adds further charm and testifies to the meticulous skill of the artisans of the period. It functions as a cigar lighter via a wick at the end of a spear.
