The base, decorated with molded relief, has a recessed compartment at the back, formerly used to hold prayers or sacred fragments. Carved and lacquered wood, traces of red polychromy, black lacquer, and remnants of gilding. Some erosion to the base. Height: 41 cm Width: 21 cm BURMA (or Laos), late 19th – early 20th century. "This type of Buddhist statuette corresponds to models from the Mandalay period (1853–1948), with a gentle and symmetrical style, long, tapered hands, and an elegant composition. The hollowed-out base suggests a votive or domestic function, reinforcing the devotional nature of the work." * Shipping costs upon request via DHL
