Superb painting attributed to Paul Quinsac, an allegory of Love. It depicts a young couple gazing in the same direction, accompanied by cherubs holding garlands of flowers. Above them, in clouds, an ancient monument shelters them, where a ram's head pedestal can be seen. The oak frame is in good overall condition. The painting requires restoration; some losses and cracks are present. Many details suggest the work of the painter Paul Quinsac. He studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme, and his students included Marius de Buzon and François-Maurice Roganeau. Allegorical and mythological subjects were his preferred subjects.
