19th Century French Giltwood And Split Glass Mirror

This magnificent split-glass and giltwood mirror was made in France in the 19th century.

We have two similar mirrors from the same estate. Although they are not a pair, they are very similar. We can sell them together or separately, according to your preference.

The original mirror surface is composed of two sections on both mirrors, a common feature of large mirrors of this period. The giltwood frames are decorated with an egg-and-dart border.

These two mirrors come from the estate of the late American actress Dodi Heath (1934-2019). Dodi Heath is best known for her role in Brigadoon (1954) alongside Gene Kelly and for her starring role in The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). She had a long and distinguished career in theater and film. Her apartment in St. James's, London, was renowned for hosting a host of stars, from Muhammad Ali to Frank Sinatra, and many more. The decor was typical of 1970s glamour, designed by the famous designer Nicky Haslam.
