This elegant, circular covered box with gently domed sides, entirely hammered, exemplifies the refinement and modernity of French silversmithing between the two World Wars. The body, punctuated by vertical ribs highlighted with stylized, hand-chiseled plant motifs, rests on a flat base. The lid, with a slightly convex profile, is adorned with a radiating design around the central knob, shaped like a stylized seed.
This piece, typical of Georges Lecomte's style, reflects the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, combining simplified naturalistic motifs with a quest for formal balance.
