This glazed white-porcelain figure was produced by Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. The underside bears the typical green three-towers mark together with B&G Denmark and the impressed number 29, identifying the sculpture as the “Mother and Child” (Model 29) created by Danish sculptor Svend Lindhart.
The style of the mark places its production between 1952 and 1958.
The figurine depicts a reclining young mother breastfeeding her child. The modelling is soft, rounded and deliberately simplified, reflecting the Scandinavian modernist aesthetic of the mid-20th century.
The pure white glaze emphasizes the sculptural volumes and the gentle emotional tone of the maternal theme.
