Roy Montgolfier Workshop - Large Pitcher Vase
Artist: Atelier Roy Montgolfier
Large glazed stoneware pitcher, signed under the base "Montgolfier – France – Unique Piece," from the Montgolfier Art Workshops (Durtal, Maine-et-Loire). Made in the 1950s-60s in the tradition initiated by the ceramist Yvon Roy. The piece is a generous 45 cm tall, a rare height for this type of production. The stoneware features a deep brown decoration enhanced with turquoise and white glazes, with engraved birds and glaze highlights characteristic of the Montgolfier/Atelier Roy workshops. It has a slender shape, a finely modeled spout, and an added handle. Its dimensions are impressive: 45 cm high x 25 cm at its widest point including the handle. It is in very good overall condition. No cracks or visible repairs.
