Antique Verriot/verriau Provençal Walnut Display Shelf, 19th Century, Arles/nîmes
Artist: Arles Ecole Provençale
A magnificent antique Provençal walnut cabinet in the Louis XV style, dating from the 19th century. The front features two glazed doors with arched tops, each retaining its original four panes of glass. One door has two small brass locking mechanisms, while the other retains a lock and its working key. The interior includes a finely carved shelf and two drawers at the bottom. The drawers are adorned with quivers of acanthus leaves and floral motifs. Both drawers retain their locks and keys. The cabinet boasts a substantial arched cornice carved with a floral basket motif. The lower rail is shaped and majestically carved with foliate scrolls and a lyre design. The sides are shaped and terminate in small, ornate feet resting on sabots. This piece makes a striking decorative statement and can be displayed on a surface or hung on the wall. It has two hanging hooks on the back. Originally, this type of piece of furniture was intended to hold the household's fine glassware. Probably from the Arles region, 19th century, very high-quality walnut, lovely period patina, waxed finish. Rare on the market today. Dimensions: width 66.5 cm, depth 30 cm, maximum height to top of cornice 99 cm. Full of charm. Find us on Instagram: mon_futur_anterieur and on our website antiquites-monfuturanterieur.fr
