Drawings Of Greek Vases, 19th-century Engraving, Based On Ancient Ceramics

Genick, A.

Two beautiful double-page color lithographs, extracted from a rare collection of archaeological plates. The two lithographs are highly decorative and rich in detail, depicting various Greek vessels and vases. These large-format engravings, executed with care, were produced by the Hein & Mosler workshop in Berlin.

Image size: approximately 45 x 31 cm each.
Framed size: 80 x 59 cm.

This highly elaborate publication is the principal work of the artist Albert Genick (1837-1906), an architect by training in Berlin, who later became one of the leading figures in Rome in the field of the graphic representation of ancient ceramics. It is extremely rare; only a few plates from this series occasionally appear on the market.

Condition: stains and foxing on the white background; however, the lithographed areas are unaffected. Traces of the fold on the double page. Good overall condition for its age.
