Circa 1850 / Still Life / French School / Oil On Canvas
Still Life with Flowers, Peaches, and Grapes. Oil on canvas, French School, circa 1850. Dimensions: 40 × 33 cm (unframed), 50 × 42 cm (framed). Original canvas and stretcher. An elegant mid-19th-century still life, bringing together summer and early autumn flowers (roses, dahlias, asters) as well as peaches and black grapes, fruits characteristic of the same season. The composition is balanced, with a subtle rendering of textures: the velvety peaches, the brilliance of the grapes, the delicate petals against a dark background. Presented in a period giltwood frame with a molded edge. Provenance: work from a public auction, originating from the estate of a château in the Loire Valley region. An old Parisian supplier's stamp, partially legible on the reverse, confirms a date around 1850. The work, on its original canvas, has undergone discreet professional restoration and is now in excellent display condition. It can be hung as is, ready to be admired.
