"A Qianlong Dutch Market Salt Bearing A Coat Of Arms, 18th Century"
Dutch market salt cellar with a coat of arms. The deeply recessed lid is decorated with the coat of arms of Bonne and De Haze, surrounded by a blue underglaze lozenge border. The sides are decorated with floral bouquets. Yongzheng-Qianlong, 1735/40. Length: 7.5 cm.
Condition: some wear to the gilding.
Commissioned by Leendert Bomme, a prominent wine merchant from Middelburg, from a family of wealthy merchants involved with the Dutch West India Company and the Middelburg Trading Company in the 18th century.
