Pair Of Polychrome Japanese Intaglio Plates

A pair of polychrome Japanese soup plates from the late 19th century. The interior features a motif of lilies arranged in a circle. The rim of the octagon is openwork, decorated with plum blossoms and bamboo leaves, and the space around each is filled with small pine motifs, forming a highly elaborate design. The decoration on the reverse is delicate, with birds nestled among pines, bamboo, and flowers. The feet are carefully crafted with stepped edges.
