Guardian Horse Skull With Wicker Halter Congo Collection Gérard Tiry
Artist: Collection De Gérard Tiry
Presumed to be from the Congo, a horse skull with its wicker halter, whose function was to protect the home. Hung at the threshold of the chief's house, it wards off evil spirits. This piece is referenced in the collection of Gérard Tiry. A lawyer at the Lille bar, a great humanist, collector of rare objects, insatiable traveler, but also a thinker and writer, Gérard Tiry passed away a few years ago at the age of 95. He had assembled a fascinating cabinet of curiosities, which was dispersed after his death. Dimensions: 40 x 30 x 17 cm. No apparent missing pieces. Provenance document provided to the buyer.
