Ring & Seal - Silver & Niellie - Carnelian Intaglio - 19th Century

A silver and nielloed seal ring set with a carnelian intaglio, 19th/early 20th century. This imposing ring is set in 925 silver with niello decoration and a carnelian intaglio. Its originality lies in the carnelian intaglio, which depicts a man's head wearing a feathered headdress in the medieval style. The lower part is domed and intricately worked in niello. To use it as a seal, the ring was inverted and placed on wax to imprint the seal. Dimensions: Intaglio diameter: 3 cm; Total intaglio diameter: 5 cm; Gross weight: 52 g; Ring size: 58.
