Jérôme Massier (1850-1926): Garden Planter With Handles, Vallauris

Artist: Jérôme Massier (1850-1926)
Jérôme MASSIER (1850-1926) Rare cachepot with handles decorated with fish, in blue and black glazed ceramic. To our knowledge, no similar model has ever been offered for sale. Beautiful marine colors and a glossy patina. Signed on the base, and a rare signature painted within the decoration. Early 20th century. Perfect condition (no chips, cracks, or chips). Good dimensions: H 23 cm, W (at the handles) 30 cm. The MASSIER family is a great dynasty of ceramists dating back to the French Revolution. They contributed to the revival of Vallauris and are considered the founders of modern ceramics.
