Chatelaine Brooch, Silver Coin, 1880

Late 19th-century (1880) chatelaine brooch centered with a tetradrachm depicting the head of Arehus (Greek mythology, nymph of Artemis's retinue) surrounded by four dolphins on the obverse and a leaping quadriga driven by a charioteer on the reverse. The silver and sapphire mount is decorated with fleur-de-lis and lions holding the links of the chatelaine in their mouths.

Dimensions: 9 cm long / 4.3 cm wide.
Gross weight: 31 g.
Condition: good overall condition, patina from use.
