18th Century Marquetry Box
An 18th-century rosewood and amaranth marquetry box. All sides are inlaid with amaranth in a four-leaf pattern, highlighted by a rosewood fillet running counter-grain within amaranth borders. The interior was formerly fitted as a letter box with leather-lined compartments. It features a gilt bronze keyhole escutcheon and the original lock, which functions with its key. Parisian work from the second half of the 18th century.
