"Miniature Portraits In Frames, Meissen"
Two Meissen porcelain miniatures (Saxony) are framed in oval frames. One of the miniatures is a stylized version of the painting "The Smiling Cavalier" after the Dutch painter Frans Hals, one of the most iconic portraits of the Baroque period. The gentleman, dressed in a dark suit with a white lace collar and wearing a hat, represents the European aristocracy of the 17th and 18th centuries. The second miniature is a stylized portrait inspired by the works of Sir William Beechey, portraitist to the court of Queen Charlotte. The miniature depicts an officer in a red uniform with white epaulettes and a black hat adorned with a plume. The portraits are signed on the back and attributed to the artist K. Schubert. Dimensions: With frame 17 x 15 cm, without frame 11 x 9 cm
