Artist: André Cottavoz (1922-2012)
A vellum print, dated 1977, depicting fruit picking in an orchard. A member of the Grande Chaumière art school, this figurative painter, in the tradition of Bonnard, rented a studio in Vallauris in the 1950s and frequented ceramists and Picasso. He settled there permanently in 1962. His painting uses traditional themes: landscapes, nudes, still lifes, flowers... He is classified within the Figuration Libre movement, sometimes with a tendency towards abstraction. His work is represented in numerous French museums (Museum of Modern Art, etc.) and abroad (Luxembourg, Turin, Japan). Our print is sold in a modern frame; the molding evokes wood, with a passe-partout and a gold bevel that illuminates the scene.
