Elegant 19th-century French opera glasses (jumelles de théâtre) by Raphaël Opticien, 7 Rue Cannebière, Marseille.

Made of gilded metal and finely decorated with deep cobalt blue enamel adorned with gilt stars, each side featuring a hand-painted floral bouquet framed by raised enamel “pearls.” The eyepieces are ivory, engraved with the maker’s details.

A luxurious and beautifully preserved example of the refined craftsmanship of the French Belle Époque period.

Complete with its original fitted leather case and in good working order.

Good condition, with small age-related wear and some of the enamel “pearls” that frame the floral bouquets missing if you look carefully.

Élégantes jumelles de théâtre et d’opéra françaises du XIXe siècle signées Raphaël Opticien, 7 Rue Cannebière, Marseille.

En métal doré finement décoré d’un émail bleu cobalt profond orné d’étoiles dorées, chaque face présentant un bouquet de fleurs peint à la main entouré de « perles » en émail en relief. Les oculaires sont en ivoire, gravés avec les coordonnées de l’opticien.

Un bel exemple du raffinement et du savoir-faire de la période de la Belle Époque, parfaites pour le théâtre ou l’opéra.

Complet avec son étui d’origine en cuir et en bon état de fonctionnement.

Bon état, avec petites usures liées à l’âge et quelques-unes des « perles » en émail entourant les bouquets floraux manquantes si l’on regarde attentivement.
