"Gallant Miniature From The 18th Century"
A large and exquisite miniature on ivory from the mid-18th century, depicting a reclining nude young woman awakened from her sleep by Cupid and another cherub. The female form is typical of artists from the reign of Louis XV, drawing inspiration from the models of François Boucher, and the finesse of execution is remarkable. It is in impeccable condition. Presented in a modern Regency-style frame, but very beautiful with a patina reminiscent of antique gilding. Dimensions of the ivory plaque: 10.5 x 8 cm. Dimensions of the frame: 16.5 x 14 cm.
