A 19th-century Lacquered Secretary Desk With Chinese-style Decoration.
An elegant and large secretary desk, forming a writing desk, finished in 18th-century Chinese lacquer with a gold ground and gold decoration of landscapes and figures. It features a drawer in the frieze revealing a writing surface and ten drawers in five rows, with two doors at the bottom (the drawers originating from an 18th-century cabinet). Probably English or Dutch work from the early 19th century. Elegant and very functional, with minor chips and wear, but nonetheless very original!
