Fighting Stags, number 1 in the Pierre-Jules MENE catalogue, model no. 116. Beautiful medal patina. Antique foundry. Signed on the base "PJ MENE". PJ MENE (1810-1879), the most famous animal sculptor after BARYE. He exhibited at the Paris Salons from 1838 to 1878, and was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1861.
