"brazil 2 Details" Shawl - Overdyed - By Laurence Berthoumieux In 2001 -
Artist: Laurence Berthoumieux
Brazil II Details of the overdyed shawl in a dominant pink hue, illustrated by Laurence Berthoumieux in 2001. The "overdyeing" process, developed by the renowned Maison Hermès on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris in 2017, was created to overdye existing shawls and silks by immersing them in a specific dye bath. This process allowed customers to modify the original color using a colored filter. A rinse, a silk softener, and a drying process that makes the shawl more supple, velvety, and slightly patinated became an ideal method for silks and large shawls up to 140 cm, which are difficult to wear when too stiff. A label specially designed for this process authenticates it, with the inscription on one side: OVERDYED DIP DYE - HERMES PARIS and the brand logo, and on the other side: 100% SILK DRY CLEAR ONLY, MADE IN FRANCE. This beautiful example is made of silk twill with edges Hand-rolled edges echo the details of the Brazil design, published in 1988 by Laurence Berthoumieux. These colorful bird feathers are often found on costumes, jewelry, and headdresses in Brazilian life. The "Dyed Dye" treatment gives it a soft, velvety feel and vibrant colors. The Maison's name appears in the lower right corner, and the copyright is in the upper left. Dimensions: 140 x 140 cm. Sold in a box.
