After studying at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1955 to 1960, Voss settled in Paris.
He was a professor at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he taught from 1987 to 1992.
The artist combines signs, graphic elements, and lines to create a colorful and expressive universe composed of figures, pictograms, and biomorphic elements.
Throughout his career, Voss playfully diversified his techniques, developing a constantly evolving artistic world. He plays with line, form, and color, blending figuration and abstraction to create a deceptively chaotic yet ever-inventive and dynamic universe.
Several monographs have been dedicated to him, notably by Yves Michaud in 2001 and by Anne Tronche in 2015.
He has been the subject of several major exhibitions (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dunkerque in 2002, Museum Arnhem in the Netherlands in 2010, Espace d'art contemporain André Malraux in Colmar in 2021).
His works are held in numerous museums, including the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dunkerque, the MNAM, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
He is also represented by several Parisian galleries.
This pencil drawing is entirely characteristic of his work from the 1960s.
