Simone Toussaint “wandering Thoughts” Acrylic Painting On Canvas 80x70 Cm
Artist: Simone Toussaint (1940-2004)
A Belgian artist from Namur, she was an exuberant and monumental figurative expressionist painter and sculptor. A student of Y. Gerard and Jean-Pierre Félix, she was a professor of Fine Arts at the Félicien Rops Institute in Namur. She created an obsessive world, painting distorted male and female figures (in both paintings and sculptures), often nude, sometimes bordering on caricature, certainly influenced by Egon Schiele. Winner of the engraving prize in 1971, she illustrated numerous literary works. She had many exhibitions in Belgium and abroad since 1978, primarily in Brussels, Liège, and Knokke. Internationally, her work has been shown in Paris, Hardelot, New York, Miami, Amsterdam, and Munich. The majority of her work is located in Belgium and France, where she lived from 1993 onward.
