"Under The Woods, Signed Louis Clesse 1889-1961"
Louis Clesse was a painter of landscapes, still lifes, and harbor views. He painted the forests around Brussels (he frequented the Rouge-Cloître), as well as the Belgian coast. His work is close to Impressionism and can be compared to that of Isidore Verheyden or Franz Courtens. In 1939, the municipality of Auderghem dedicated an avenue to him during his lifetime (1942).
