The son of a mason contractor, Louis Ageron studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Jean-Léon Gérôme and Henri Harpignies. He returned to Valence to devote himself to drawing and painting until the end of his days.
Influenced by Camille Corot, he exhibited at the Salon de Lyon in 1893 and at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1896 and 1897.
Primarily a landscape artist, he painted views of the Rhodanienne region.
