Belgian painter of the Barbizon School. A student of Jean Achille de Benouville and Jules Dupré, from 1829, he participated in the Salon of Ghent then settled in Barbizon.
One of the rare Belgian painters of the Barbizon School
In Paris where he met Camille Corot, Félix Ziem, Théodore Rousseau and Jean-François Millet from whom he acquired L'Angélus In 1867, he bought a house in Barbizon and then moved to Saint Raphael
