Pierre Paul Léon Glaize, known as Léon Glaize (1842–1931), began his artistic career as a student of his father, the painter Auguste Barthélemy Glaize. He then entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on March 31, 1863, studying in the studio of Jean-Léon Gérôme. He won a second prize in the Prix de Rome for painting in 1866. Léon Glaize contributed to the decoration of the Salon des Arts at the Paris City Hall and the wedding hall of the 20th arrondissement town hall. He was a member of the jury for the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1859 to 1929.
