Burma, mid-20th century, a charming cylindrical betel box made of woven bamboo, exquisitely lacquered in red and black. This antique box was used to hold the necessary equipment for chewing betel. It features a recessed inner tray and a fitted lid. The main body is richly decorated with a continuous motif depicting figures in a palace setting, the work of a master lacquerer. The quality of execution is impeccable and worthy of the finest Burmese lacquer creations. Dimensions: Height 23 x Diameter 23 cm. Good condition apart from slight wear and a small hole at the top, but nothing abnormal given its age and without detracting from the beautiful aesthetic of this piece.
