Carved and gilded wooden barometer known as a “wedding barometer” according to Torricelli, from the Louis XVI period (1774-1793), 18th century.
Decorated with carved and gilded wood depicting love symbolized by two doves surrounded by a laurel wreath embellished with small flowers.
Signed “Rue Neuve Saint-Eustache N°24.”
Barometer according to Torricelli (1608-1647). Thermometer according to Réaumur (1683-1757).
Original gilding.
France. 18th century.
