Beautiful ornamentation of shells, leaves and quatrefoils covered with a "golden mixtion". Sarrancolin Ilhet marble top (repaired). Curved in elevation and plan, its powerful lines present a harmonious stylistic and decorative balance. The choice of marble is not random: it comes from the Ilhet quarry. Very close to Sarrancolin in the Hautes-Pyrénées, the site has been in operation since the Louis XIV era. Blocks are extracted from this quarry for architecture, decoration and furniture. They were sent and used during the construction of the Palace of Versailles... then in the 19th century, for the construction of the Garnier Opera (Paris). Associated with our console, the nature of this top reveals the care taken in the most beautiful works of this kind.
