Gianantonio Porcheddu was born in Bordighera on January 4, 1920. A self-taught artist, he drew and painted from childhood. He graduated from the University of Turin with degrees in Law (1942) and Political and Social Sciences(1947). His extensive travels took him across France, England, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium.
His art career includes solo exhibitions in Milan (Galleria Ciliberti in 1945; Galleria Borgonuovo in 1947). He exhibited at «La Fondation d’Art de la Napoule» (1955) and participated in the US traveling show «Contemporary Prints from Italy» (1957). In 1958, he was invited by Lionello Venturi to the «New Trends in Italian Art» in Rome. Notably, he was the sole Italian artist invited to the prestigious «Kunstaustellung Donaueschingen 1960». Between 1960 and 1969, he took part in major group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
