Object description :

"Napoleon III Period Furniture, Circa 1860"
Superb Napoleon III period piece in Cuban mottled mahogany, adorned with gilt and patinated bronzes and topped with a magnificent violet breccia marble slab.
This piece combines the warmth of precious wood with the satin sheen of gilding, in a typically Parisian harmony of the Second Empire.
Its refinement, the finesse of its chasing, and the rarity of its materials make it a prestigious piece, equally elegant in a classical interior or a sophisticated contemporary setting.
Parisian work.
Circa 1870.

Dimensions:

Height: 115 cm
Width: 148 cm
Depth: 50 cm

Technical characteristics:
The façade, with curved ends, is organized around a central panel adorned with bronzes finely chased with remarkable care. Garlands of flowers, delicate ribbons, and leafy trophies stand out against the warm, silky background of the mottled mahogany, whose deep grain captures the light elegantly. The bronzes were gilded using the agate stone technique, a refined method that gives the gilding a soft, slightly satin glow, a distinctive mark of the finest pieces commissioned by 19th-century aristocratic clients.

The cabinet opens with a central door flanked by two curved side doors. The glazed side doors reveal shelves ideal for displaying porcelain, art objects, or collectible glassware. The back panels of the shelves are fitted with beveled mirrors.
Above the central door, a drawer is decorated with finely chased bronzes, featuring squirrels, eagles, and cherubs playing music.

The top is crowned with a superb violet breccia marble slab, a rare and decorative marble whose purple and veined hues perfectly complement the warmth of the wood and the luminosity of the gilding.
