Antique Silver Jewelry Box From The 20th Century
20th-century 800 silver jewelry box, regularly hallmarked on the base with the inscription 800 and a diamond-shaped inscription 38 AL inside. Rectangular in shape, it features floral motifs with scrolls and curls, all in relief and engraved, with a central medallion on the lid embellished with small pinkish Mediterranean coral spheres, supported by four small feet, all crafted in the shape of small shells. The interior of the box is entirely lined in red velvet. The box was made by silversmith Guido Baratta, active in Valenza since 1935, and ceased production between 1955 and 1971.
