Antoine Criaerd, of Flemish origin, is the dean of a dynasty of Parisian master cabinetmakers who practiced in 1720 and 1750. Established in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, his furniture of fine quality and made with great talent, all belong to the beginning of the 18th century. He would have worked for his famous colleague Pierre Migeon. We can mention a production of chests of drawers in amaranth veneer or leaf wood, decorated with bronze and framed in dark wood. Our chest of drawers attached is undoubtedly one of his finest creations, both for the quality of the marquetry and the choice of his bronzes.
