"Russian Empire Period Pedestal Table"
Russian pedestal table from the Empire period. Circular mahogany pedestal table, resting on a scalloped baluster shaft, itself on a triangular base with curved and truncated sides. It is decorated with rich ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes and brass, pearl friezes and openwork arcatures. The ring and the circular base have friezes of oves, darts and gadroons. The water leaves and the black salsify leaves of the ingot mold recall the acanthus leaves around the base.
