"Pair Of Louis XVI Style Candelabra Lamps In Gilt Bronze And White Marble. "
Refined pair of gilt bronze and white marble candelabra lamps, depicting a young boy and a young girl supporting in their arms rose branches adorned with leaves, buds and blooming flowers forming the arms of light. The white marble bases, square in shape with angles softened by arc-shaped notches, perfectly reflect the neoclassical taste of the Louis XVI style. They are richly decorated with floral garlands and gilt bronze bows and rest on small feet covered with acanthus leaves. The figures, of great finesse of execution, evoke the grace of models inspired by the 18th century, in the spirit of Clodion. The period gilding, well preserved, presents a beautiful satin patina. There are some small old restorations to the branches, without harming the overall harmony. The electrical system is new and removable, carefully installed without causing any damage to the candelabras. The lamps are topped with new, custom-made green moiré shades, perfectly complementing the warmth of the gilded bronze and the whiteness of the marble. A beautiful and highly decorative set, illustrating the refinement of Parisian productions around 1880 in the style of the 18th century. Total height: 82.5 cm
