Antique Chinese porcelain bowl decorated in famille rose enamels with figures and inscriptions from the famous Wu Shuang Pu (無雙譜 – “Book of Peerless Heroes”).
This celebrated series, first published by Jin Guliang in the late 17th century, depicts renowned historical figures from Chinese history — loyal officials, scholars, and generals — each accompanied by moral inscriptions and seals extolling their virtues.
The bowl features finely painted portraits of identified characters such as Ban Chao, Xie Gong, and Wen Chengxiang, surrounded by their respective texts and emblems, all executed in bright famille rose enamels with delicate calligraphy. The interior shows a single floral sprig, and the rim retains traces of its original gilding.
Of quatrefoil form with a raised foot and measuring 23.2 cm in width. Jingdezhen kilns, Daoguang period (circa 1820–1850).
Condition: good.
