A student of Paul Comoléra, he exhibited from 1855 and enjoyed success in France, England, and the United States. His sculpture is distinguished by great finesse of detail and naturalistic bases. Thanks to the foundry founded by his father, he had complete control over the production and finishing of his bronze works. Visible at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, at 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
