Beautiful Chinese porcelain “Batavia ware” bowl from the Qianlong period (1736–1795).
The interior finely painted in underglaze blue with five fish swimming among stylised aquatic plants, symbolising abundance and prosperity (yú 鱼). The exterior covered with a rich, glossy iron-brown glaze (Batavia brown).

A fine and rare example of export porcelain, combining a symbolic blue-and-white fish pattern with the characteristic Batavia-brown exterior. Such motifs are uncommon within this type and highly sought after by collectors of 18th-century Chinese export wares.
