Charlotte-Léonie Arden, née Lepla, known as Léo, 1860-1904. Belgian painter of genre scenes and landscapes. She was a student of Alfred Stevens, who influenced her. She married the impressionist painter Henri Arden. Some of her compositions are in the spirit of symbolism. She favors mysterious, melancholic and poetic atmospheres, most often in small formats, rarely working in large formats. She is noted for her feminine grace and the virility of her palette. From 1886 to 1904 she exhibited regularly at the Triennial Salons of Belgium and at the Paris Salon from 1896. Works at the Museums of Antwerp and Brussels. Artist listed at Bénézit, Arto and Piron. Listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
This wooden panel is in very good condition.
